My hard disk now is for backup only, but i want to store my stuff inside also. How do i revert it to normal? Im using macbook pro now. Its showing a time machine icon when i connect it to my mac. How do i revert it to normal?
 
Solution
I presume that you are talking about an external drive. You should be able to store ordinary files on it as well as Time Machine backups. When you open the disk,in Finder can you not drag files to it? What error message do you get?

Press the power button and then hold R this will take you to recovery mode.

If yo cant figure out your situation from there your best bet would be a fresh installation.

Oh, thats right, external drives. Way to sleepy to read last night. You can simply partition the drive, that way its not a backup disk anymore. Note, partitioning will erase your externals data.
