Bought a TEG-S80g to add additional ports to my network. The switch is connected to a Netgear WNR3500L Wireless router which has 4 Gigabit ports as well. I have multiple devices both wired and wireless. I am experiencing very slow connectivity between devices connected to the TEG-S80g and devices connected to the Netgear WNR3500L. If I move the devices off the TEG-S80g and back to the Netgear, the speeds are all normal again?

Example #1: I have a a wireless printer (HP Envy 100 D410) connected to the Netgear WNR3500L. I have my laptops (1 Macbook Pro 10.9.3 and 1 Windows 8.1) connected via wire to the TEG-S80g. If I try to print to the wireless printer it takes roughly 7 minutes to print a single test page. If I plug the laptops directly into the ports on the Netgear WNR3500L, the same test page print job take less than 10 seconds.

Example #2: Same setup as above, but replace with printer with a Seagate NAS 220 storage device connected to the router using ethernet... Try to send a file to NAS from computers connected to switch and transfer rates are terrible. Connect computers to same router as NAS and speed is great...

Any assistance you can provide would be great.

Thank you,

Kevin

Solution
The switch could be your culprit. Try getting a D-Link DGS-1005G Ethernet switch. Also, are you connecting the host device to port 0/1?

@CompGee - I have tried connecting the router to each of the ports on the switch including port 1, but it does not matter. The switch actually doesn't require it being plugged into any specific port. The product literature actually shows the router being plugged into port #2 in the quick install guide. I agree, I believe I might have a faulty switch and may need to get a new one. I have a case open with Trendnet to see what they think as well.

Thanks for the response!
