Hey people! I built my budget pc around 3 months ago (fx4300 @4.2ghz w/ stock cooler, ga78lmtusb3, fx4300, hd 7770 2gb, cx430, rosewill ranger m, 2tb seagate green, 8gb 1333, and yeah...) Here is a picture of what I got:http://imgur.com/5irrBBO
I want a pny xlr8 120 gb ssd that is 59$ on amazon as my 8th grade grad gift:http://www.amazon.com/PNY-120GB-6Gbps-2-5-Inch-SSD9SC120GMDF-RB/dp/B007WT9SU0
It seems like a great performer, and I want to buy it by the end of this month, and before then buy a 3.5 to 2.5 inch adapter. It seems fairly good and performs like a 840 evo, so is it good? I have a 35$ amazon giftcard, so it will only be like 24$, which all in all is not that bad. Should I buy the adapter now or when I buy the ssd? If I get it now it will be kind of final that I am going to buy it. My mobo only has sata 3gbps, but the performance increase should be noticeable right? I will take all the games and put them onto my laptop (already did) and then just put them back in my steamapps folder. Does it sound like a plan? I will fresh install windows 7 and format my current hdd. How do I make it so that steam is on my ssd, but my games arew on my hdd?

How do you zip tie in an ssd, I really don't want to have to buy an adapter. Do you just zip tie in the whole thing? Can you screw it in? I am just wondering because I don't want to spend extra money where I don't need to. There won't be a big difference between this and something costs more like a crucial m4, right? Not a huge diff , atleast.

Hello,

Most if not all SSD's are fully enclosed except connector ends, and unlike a hard drive can me set at weird angles and mounted anywhere convenient. I personally just used Velcro to keep it at the bottom of my case, as like you i don't have a case with 2.5" mounting location.

That SSD will be just fine, and will be a noticeable performance improvement loading windows and games, tho may not affect FPS in games really.

The rest of your thoughts should work just fine

Hello! So just electricians tape, velcro, or a zip tie will be fine ,correct? I am thinking about mounting it under my hard drive or under my optical drive. The upgrade consists of just plugging it on and installing Windows right? Should I format my hard drive, too?
