Need help pinpointing why games appear nicer on my laptop (with a worse card) then my computer.

Details:
Computer is running on a 4 year old cheap nu-tec tv, with some cheap HDMI I found at a local swap meet.
Laptop (hp pavillion dv6) is running a radeon (unsure what specific model)

When playing League of Legends, (only game i've playing on both systems) the graphics on the laptop are far better, both graphics were set on the top settings.

Is the HDMI/TV possibly the problem here?

There is a cheap 32" HD LED LCD TV for about $200 on sale i was considering buying, if you guys think it might solve the issue.

Currently at a mate's house studying for an exam tomorrow, laptop's at home, unsure of specs.
TV is running at its native resolution 1360x768

The computer specs i can remember off my heart are:
GPU: i5 4670
GPU: gtx 650
RAM: 8 gb of ripjawz
PSU: 650 W corsair cooler
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-B85M-HD3

When playing games on ultra settings on this TV, it pretty much looks the same as normal/low settings for the laptop.

Will provide a link of laptop soon.
EDIT: http://www.mln.com.au/product/?itemID=4246#specs

Found advertisement for tv i bought in 2011 (seemed like longer)
Nu-tec 18.5 inch LCD TV with high definition
Features:
Resolution: HD 1366x768
Built-in HD Tuner
Inputs: HDMI, PC (VGA), YPbPr component and AV
Outputs: Coaxial audio and headphones
Remote Control

I can test the difference between HDMI and VGA if you think it might help you.
