PERFORMANCE PER DOLLAR?
Which one is best enough for R9 270x, gigabyte H87M-D3H board for gaming with future proof???

They have about the same price/performance (~30 on this chart)

The i5 though is a much stronger performer

No question. The quad core i5 is best for future proof gaming. And it'll work perfectly with a H87 mobo.
