hey guys, i have just ordered a new gpu, i currently have a gtx 760 and wanted a upgrade, and a change, so instead of sticking with nvidia which i have always had, ive opted to go for amd,not sure why i wanted to switch but i have a amd cpuso i thought id try both together, ive ordered a r9 290 tri-x sapphire oc, i went for this one because it has a good cooling system on it as ive read up about the heating problems on these models, but this one runs fine and has good reviews.

has anyone got one/used one? i was going to go for a gtx770 but alot of reviews seemed to come back that the 290 was pretty much as good if not better, and you get more for your money.

anybody who has any knowledge of the amd cards would be very much appreciated as i know very litte.

thanks in advance...

I've got the same card you ordered and I'm really satisfied by the performance on gaming aspect.
Now that I do not run anything special GPU heat is at 36 C and when in games goes around 70. In a benchmark test I've run the highest it could get was 79.
The only thing I hate is on games (Ubisoft games for me) that cooperate with nVidia have bad fps (30 and lower) and need to be fixed. I use radeon pro to change some settings and get on these games 50-60fps.
On other games like battlefield, crysis, call of duty etc. at max settings they run @87fps average with min 60 and max 120 (or even more depending on game)

so overall it will be a good card, the main games i play are, battlefield, call of duty, theif and watchdog. im hoping it just performs better in all of those, as i get around 50/60fps in them all now, but the settings are not maxed out. normally all on high, not ultra.

i have a fx8320, its a 8-core 3.5ghz cpu.
16gb 1600mhz ram

so with that cpu and my new gpu i should be able to play everything in ultra and achieve 70+ fps??
