new to building a PC going to install a I7 4770k processor with a MSI z87-g45 motherboard running a GTX 660 graphics card, for now running standard hard drive with 2 standard disk drives. was curious if a 600W PSU would work? also if i ran another 660 Graphics card SLI what wattage would be needed for my computer? if someone could help me out please i'd appreciate it!

just saying intels new broadwell cpu's are coming out in a few months and they just released the z97 chipset motherboards so you might want to wait the extra couple months.

A good 500W PSU would be plenty. Make sure it's a decent one though; the second link in my sig is a useful reference.

I'd go for a Z97 board; you get more upgrade room in future. Also, consider waiting for Devil's Canyon chips.
