Quadro and Firepro

I am a very experienced system builder and have only just been asked to build a workstation PC. I have found that Firepro's and Quadros are used for this. What are they used for?

they are specifically designed to handle 3D imaging, animation, and the likes. a very high end Radeon or GTX card could do somewhat the same but to get the same performance as a lower end Quadro or Firepro you'll need to spend a lot on the other two...if that makes sense.
