My internet is way too slow.

I live just on the borderline where Verizon will provision me 1 meg. However because I do live far away I lose connection constantly. It dosen't matter if I call them up to upgrade my speed because by the time I get the signal, I recieve only about 1 meg anyway plus it becomes more unstable the higher the speed.

So what I'm asking is, besides moving closer, is there a solution to boost my internet connection?

I have called verizon support and have had plenty of technicians come up to check everything out but it's always the same answer. I just find it hard to believe they can't do anything about it.

Are you on DSL? If so, have Verizon check the connection speed at the box. You may be losing signal due to poor wiring in your home. If so, run a new line directly from the box to your router. Also, check to see if there are any other providers in your area. I live in a rural subdivision, and the local phone company's DSL was horrible. I am now on a wireless connection from another provider and get a much better connection. If everything else fails, there is always satellite.

Yes I'm on DSL. They checked all the wires and ran new ones, gave me a new modem and everything. Still crudy speed and inconsistent connection. There are no other providers in my area and I'm a gamer, Speed and Consistency are absolutley required. So, no satellite.
