Lost RAM with OC Genie

msi z97-G45 MB,
i74770k CPU (3.4Ghz)
12 gig of RAM
msi R9 twin frozr 3G GDDR5 GPU
Windows 8 core
Thermaltake TR2 600W power supply.

Now I went the easier route and just clicked the OC Genie button in the BIOS software. It automatically shot me up to 4.0Ghz. There seems to be a slight increase in game performance (I play BF4), but the weird thing is, my RAM is reduced to 8 gig. I checked this several times to be sure. When I reset the OC settings in the BIOS to factory, I go back up to 12 gig of RAM.
One forum I read suggested that the voltage needs adjusting. But with factory settings the voltage is 1.488, and 12gig of RAM is present. But with the OC Genie settings, the voltage is 1.488 and only 8 gig of RAM show in the BIOS or windows PC info page.

Does anyone know what's going wrong here?

The software tries to optimize the system based on known configurations (12GB of DRAM is not an accepted 'normal' config, nothing wrong with it but it's not a usual config and doubt if the software knows what to do, since it's generic, not much chance of it doing better), what you might do is jot down or get screenshots of the BIOS settings for voltages, CPU setup etc, then turn the genie off and set the CPU and OC up manually leaving the DRAM as is
