If you want it to last, I'd say keep the K model and upgrade the mobo to say a Asus Z97- A, it costs more, but will give you a little future proofing, down the road you could OC to prolong the life of the rig and also you'd be able to move to a Broadwell CPU if the desire struck for an upgrade

thank you. its been a real pain. this is my first build and ive been talking to people in forums. reading reviews. comparing product specs and what not for litterally months to get to where i am now. its just expensive and ive never done this before. im used to gaming on laptops as thats primarily all i've owned till now but after i spilt water on my mac i decided it was time for the important stuff to be away from the surface of the desk. aslo im not in school anymore so the need for something portable has diminished.

thank you for your reply :) im getting more and more excited about it now :p

i dont know what overclocking is. i hadnt heard of it until i stared using this forum. i was told its better if you can overclock but i really dont know much about it. if you have any suggestions on swapping out parts im all ears. if you think over clocking isnt very important would you mind reworking my pc partpicker list to some more appropriate parts? or if you think it is important, same thing? my goal is just to have a computer capable of running games at max settings with relatively high fps. 45+. if you can swap some parts for more applicable ones that'd be awesome.

Gah, i totally missed that, good catch by Tradesman1. If you're not overly familiar with overclocking and just want a good performing PC, i'd step down to a non K CPU, you won't be able to overclock, but you won't need to to get great performance and reliability. Overclocking is just running a chip faster than what its stock clocks dictate. You can get more performance, but you can also decrease the life of your CPU and fry it and other parts of your PC if not careful in doing it.

Also, stepping down the CPU saves you some money :)
