More about downloads slow
  1. Wired or Wifi?
  2. there server is limiting you at that time just like I can download a 200mb from lets say Microsoft and zing it there but I go to AMD and get a 200mb from them and it 3 min+. depends how busy they are

go to www.speedtest.net and test your download speeds.

Both USAFRet and junky posts are possible factors, could also be bad router, modem, or even bad connection on ISPs end. Do the speed test first.
  4. You are likely confusing megabytes with megabits.
ISPs advertise their download speeds in megabits. For reference, one megabyte is equal to 8 megabits. So 20 megabits is about 2.5 megabytes
  5. don't mater if you got the fastest internet in the world if there server don't give it to you fast your not getting it fast

    wifi

That could well be the issue. WiFi is very environmentally sensitive. I can see a 25% decrease just walking down the hall upstairs.

Also, as mentioned above, it could be their server.

Go to speedtest.net and see what you get.
Then try the same thing with a wired connection.

I was sitting right next to the router and i got a 300 kb difference in download speed im going to try wired now.
  13. Wifi degrades very quickly, and that is ith quality equipment, medicore or crappy routers will be even worse.

  17. -maybe he can write the download to the drive faster? he maybe sitting right on top of the main box? maybe they wired you with sub standard coax that saved them money? there maybe an update or driver you need ? tell them you paid for a service and not getting it ... lots of factors to look at
