Hi, I have a question regarding my friends PC.

When my friend tried to restart his computer, the computer failed to reboot and now every time he tries to power it on, it powers on for a second nothing appears on the screen then it shuts off again.

What could be causing this problem and how can it be fixed? Thanks.

Solution
That's your problem.

If you look at this image : http://i.imgur.com/ZkVjPQA.jpg . You'll notice that the pin at the bottom left isn't straight. This is what it SHOULD look like.

(I highlighted the pins so you can compare yourself.)

Your best bet, if your friend believes he can do it, would be to try and straighten these pins. If he doesn't want to and his motherboard is still under warranty, then he can send it back for a new one!

I'd say this could be an issue with some of his connections between his power supply and his other components.
I'd suggest checking AND double-checking over all your connections, making sure they're all are fitted correctly and none are loose. If this doesn't work then please say.

He went through the computer and made sure everything was plugged in correctly however it still doesn't work. The computer worked fine right up until he attempted to restart it. Could it be caused by any other problems?

Update: He has just said that when he holds down on the 24 slot power connector it starts up and flickers on and off but when he releases it, it turns off.

Here are images of the socket and plug.

It turns on when force is applied onto these
