I've applied thermal paste to numorous cpu's in the past but never a gpu, would a dot (pea size) method suffice? or does a very thin layer of paste across the entire chip suffice as well?(spread method) I will be using arctic silver 5 if you are curious.

Also, I have researched all over and I have not found a legit most performance heat transferring efficient way of doing this, your expertise is appreciated.

Thanks.

I've always used the dot method just as I would on a CPU. The heat and pressure will spread it fine. But don't be tempted to use too much. All you are after when it is compressed and spread, is a film to fill in the microscopic pores of the metal surfaces.

May I ask why you are replacing the TIM on a new gfx card?

Thanks clutch I just needed some reassurance, I'm replacing the stock heat sink with a Corsair H50, using the NZXT Kraken G10 gpu bracket.
