It started on Saturday, and I haven't found any solutions yet. Whenever I go into most programs, whether it's Firefox, Chrome or some game, I'll get a black screen that then returns and shows me a notification that states my AMD drivers have stopped responding and restarted successfully. This can happen repeatedly. Sometimes, if I don't get out of the program causing it in time, I'll get a x116 BSOD, "an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed." It cites atikmpag.sys as the offending file.

I've tried updating and installing different types of drivers and installing fresh copies of Windows 7, all to no effect. FurMark benchmark is showing my GPU is running at 77 Celcius after 15 minutes, which seems alright.

My graphics card is an MSi Radeon R7 265, OC Edition. And I think maybe that last bit is what's causing the problems. I've never overclocked something, let alone had a pre-overclocked GPU, and I have a fairly weak processor. I'm looking to replace it, but for now could the overclock conflict with the processor, RAM, or any other component, in some way that causes it to crash my drivers? The card was recently purchased, and was working flawlessly up until Saturday, when I was playing Wildstar.

try a fresh install, wipe everything to do with AMD display drivers and the control center, restart the pc, and reinstall. if that doesn't work, wipe the drivers again and try an older driver.

I've done that before, but I guess I'll give it another shot. I'll try it again with the drivers provided to me on my CD, but I doubt it'll do much.
