Your high-end GTX 670s in SLI would be pretty much the same as a GTX 690. So, faster than a GTX 780 and GTX 780 Ti.

it will be faster and also cheaper. this would be the best bet until you see what the next gen has to offer.
I just bought a 780 and i am having a little buyer remorse, the 800 series may really be that good!

Just to add to what 17seconds and ERIC J said above, the difficulty for you will be in finding a second 670 FTW (no, you can't have mine :p ). You'll almost certainly have to find one that's second hand, which of course comes with its own set of risks (no way of knowing how the previous owner used it, etc).

excellent points! they average $275-$300 used with no guarantees at all so that's the down side of it.
they are all over ebay but?
