screwed up HDD

I was installing linuex but then decide not to and when I rebooted my desktop it said missing OS. Do I have to buy a new HDD and/or os?

u don't need to install the disk , u need to boot from it , and enter the cmd option , and write the orders i gave u :D

all u need is , a windows reaper disk , and u should boot from it , and enter the cmd option , "BootRec.exe /fixmbr" then "BootRec.exe /fixboot " but before doing this u should check google for your windows version :)

If I install windows 8 disk will it be fixed.
