Plug and play CPU upgrade?

I have an i3 but I want to upgrade to an i7 soon. They are both the same socket, and my motherboard can handle the i7. Is there any bios update I have to do before I switch them, or is it a plug and play?? Thank you!

(Current : i3 4330, with a Gigabyte z87 d3hp
upgrade: i7 4770k ( stock fan [not over clocking till later] )

Does it really matter?

Anyway, you have to look up in the current BIOS to see what version you have. Then check it against the CPU support list: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4519&RWD=0#

But looking through the list considering the i3 is supported using a later BIOS version than the i7 it should just be plug and play.
