Indecisive, building my first gaming rig seeing as my laptop finally crapped out. I'm in need of some opinions, or some websites that accurately compare. Any feedback would be appreciated.

ALSO, I'm not partial to either. Budget for the card is 400, if there are better cards please educate.

If its 400 USD, then consider getting an r9 290.

If $400 is your budget, I'd probably recommend an R9-290. GIGABYTE GV-R929WF3-4GD Radeon R9 290 is going for $400 on Newegg right now.

Is it significantly better? Also, any processors you guys recommended for 150-200? or less if there's one thats a great value.

yes an r9 290 will be much greater than 770 but they drop support after 3 yrs

Could you clarify what you mean by dropping support? I bought the asus g74 with the gtx 560 two years ago and it was just a pain. I thought about getting another laptop because I still need some mobility, but I figured the smarter thing to do would be to get a netbook or some cheap laptop for school (etc) and get a desktop (possibly mini atx style) for the ability for future upgrades and more power.

dropping support means amd will not update the drivers for your gpu and latest software's.
meanwhile, Nvidia has'nt support since the geforce 7 series.

So, you're still saying go for the 770?

By the time AMD drops support for the card, there aren't much optimizations for the card anyways. Same goes with nVidia. Either one is still a good choice. But for the price of the gtx 770 4gb, you can get an r9 290.
