scratch sound from HDD and a deleted partition

From about two months I have been hearing a scratch and click sound from my HDD and I didn't care about but from four days the click sound was gone and yesterday I found that my G Drive was deleted, I successfully retrieved all data from it and I ran an Error-checking on that Drive after allocating it, there were no errors but during running the test I put my ear next to the HDD and I was hearing a scratch sound while it was running but no clicking sound.
and when I tried to Overclock my CPU to 3.66GHz from a month (which I have done before successfully) it showed me a BSOD on windows loading (I really don't remember the BSOD), when Isearched on the internet I found that this BSOD can be caused by a Hard Drive fault or missing windows files.

My system:
Intel Core2Duo E7500 @ 3.3GHz
2X2GB Kingston 1333MHz Ram @ 1200MHz
MSI GT640 N640-2GD3/V3 @ 1080MHz Core and 900MHz Memory
Gigabyte GA-G41MT-S2PT
Western Digital Caviar Blue WD500AAKS (500GB, SATAII, 16MB Cache, 7200RPM)
HP DVD1260 DVD-RW
a 500W non-branded PSU and case

The question is : Is my HDD dying or this is regular ?

When you heard that sound that should have been your first clue to clone the drive before you lost all your data. It sounds like your drive us dying. Get everything off it NOW or it will be too late.

I realized that the click soung wasn't my HDD now, Believe or not, it is the sound of the case's steel which heats up and the scratch sound can't be heard except by opening the case and putting my ear on the HDD and after all that I can barely hear it

An unstable overclock can definately cause BSOD's and cause drive (data) errors. Just because you were previously able to overclock to 3.66Ghz doesn't mean it can handle that speed indefinately. If you undo the overclock and things are stable, then the overclock is definately the problem. You can always try a lower OC value.

So, how did your G:\ drive get deleted then? Was it something that you accidentally did?

I would not trust this HDD until I had a good answer to this question.
