I think you'll find that the dimming of the screen backlights is due to settings on the screens themselves. Look for something like 'Adaptive Backlight' or 'Adaptive Contrast' and turn it off.

It'll be in the on screen display settings, like where you change the brightness.
Are you talking about the black areas of the screen going dimmer when there's no lighter areas? If so, that's adaptive backlight control. GPU won't do anything.

when watching any online video clip - if the scene transitions to a dark room from a brighter scene the monitor will begin to fade in and out as if it is "going dark" - I have looked on their site for "Adaptive" and all the related terms - there is no mention of that control.
