NZXT H440 Liquid Cooler Placement

I wondered if anyone could give me the answer on the ideal placement for my H75 liquid cooler.
I know alot of people seem to mount their 120mm radiator at the rear of the case however with this case has a lot of room and 3 locations for fans on the front so i would think mounting it on the front and allowing it to drag cold air in through it would provide the best cooling.

Has anyone mounted theirs differently or got any better suggestions.

I mounted my H80i in the front of my case and its been great. The dust filter keeps the radiator clean and fresh air comes directly in the case from outside. Also mounted 2 140mm fans on top and a 140 in the back. What you should be more focused on is the orientation of your top fans weather if you want them to suck out hot air or push in cool air.

Hello Jacko121,

The ideal place would depends on how your current airflow is configured.

Are you using the front fans as intake and the the back and top as exhaust or how is it configured?

But it will always be best if it pulls in fresh cold air from outside the case. Then you can configure your cases airflow depending on what you decided.

From my own rig i have two TD03's mounted in the front one for the CPU and one for my GPU with a G10 mounted bracket in push/pull, the exhaust in both the back and top.

Thanks for the reply. And i have configured so cold air is pulled through front and exhausted out the top and rear. I think i will mount it on the front as there are a lot of fans on this case so the air flow is not too bad. The foam on the top and front panel restrict a little but still good.

I currently have the top and rear fans exhausting hot air and the front pulling in cold. I think i will mount like yours on the front. If you don't mind me asking what sort of temps do you get on full load?

Full load stays the same, around 60c no matter where I placed the cooler or the orientation of the fans. What I did notice is that idle temps did increase about 5c depending on the orententation of the top fans and the placement of the cooler.

Ok thanks ill think ill mount it at the front then. At the moment im using a Cooler Master CPU cooler and that idles at 30c but under full load it goes to 54c. So as long as i can configure to get it to either remain under or at the same after boosting the CPU.

Hi what are your cpu temps on idle and load because mine are a bit high. I mounted my h80i in my h440 on the top 120mm fan spot over the drive bays and have about 63 to 55 load temps and 38-41 idle temps. This maybe due to the lack of airflow on the top of the case as the air flow holes gets cut off it nears drive bays. Any suggestions?

No 2 CPUs are the same. Im running a 3770K ambient temp is 66F CPU runs at 25C idle. My CPU never goes over 60C even in the hottest summer. If you are running an AMD CPU then expect it to be much hotter than Intel. If your running a Hanswell CPU it will be hot also.
How is the radiator mounted?
Is it behind the dust filter or in the roof?
Hoses down or hoses up?
What thermal paste did you use?
Did you wait for the 24 hour TIM set in period?

The radiator is mounted on top over the drive bays.
No dust filter
It is pushing air out of the case and getting air from inside
Arctic MX 4
Its been mounted their for a week

I cannot picture your setup.

Kindly post a picture of the inside of your setup

So i take it that the h80i has no problem reaching the front fans? do you have both corsair fans installed on the h80i as well?

I think its better to post a picture of how it looks so everything is clear. This was how my setup was. It can also work with the H100i with the hoses at the top.

A view fro the inside

A view from the outside.

Hello,

I want to do the same thing with my H440 and H80i as yourself, with mounting the H80i at the front. My question is

- Were the screw that came with cooler long enough to mount on the front of the case or did buy longer ones?

Thanks

The screws that came with the cooler will work just fine. Just make sure you use the plastic washers that came with the H80i to protect the case paint around the screw holes.
