hello,
i`m pretty much a total novice but i`m wanting to have a go at upgrading my heatsink/fan myself,
i`m replacing a Zalman cnps9900a blue led with new Noctua NH-U14s,
i`ve been looking at user reviews and a few are saying they are getting "cpu fan error"
after fitting with the Noctua fans spinning slower than previous fans, they`ve commented on having to go into bios to change the cpu fan error warning from say 600rpm to 200rpm
as i say i`m a novice and have no idea where to go in the bios or how to get there to change this setting....can anyone help me out here and possibly give me a step by step guide on where to go and how to get there?
thank you.

hello,
i`ve just been in bios and my temps are set the same as in the link you gave me on your initial reply,
"cpu fan fully on if cpu temp is more than 50c" and "turn off if cpu temp is less than 25c"
witch are both changeable,
the cooler fan that`s on now is pwm and speeds up and slows down with the cpu temp (new one is pwm also)
(personally never been below 25c or above 50c)
as far as this goes i imagine a different cooler shouldn`t make any difference but i`m still weary of going ahead with it atm in case there is at least some low, med, high fan setting as you mention or something similar,
i`m going to troll through the other link you gave for the motherboard owners thread and see if there is any other mention of it,
thanks again.

lol...yes its an old motherboard it seems.....came in a custom build i bought a while back....i`m not a big gamer and its running well enough for me i think....wanting to change the heatsink/fan as its too noisy and wanted to have a go myself,
that seems like its just a status page rather than the option to change speed???
as i say i`m next to clueless...feel competent enough to change cooler but not confident what to do if i get fan error when i turn it back on after

i have actually got the user manual but there`s next to nothing in it about the bios for some reason,
i will check manual online and see if thats any different/better.....
tried that online manual page before actually and theres no manual there,
thanks for the reply`s.....i may end up taking it to a shop for them to do...been trying to suss this out for a while online but not having much luck...not the end of the world but was set on doing it myself

ahh ok, so this is suggesting there is no fan control or possible "fan error" i`m going to get,
and if anything its temps that will need changing....
looks like the initial link you gave me with status page has the option to change temp if i do get some kind of error,
hopefully i can just change the cooler and that will be it as it should run as cool if not cooler than the one already in,
no idea what i would need to change temps to at the moment but i`ll cross that bridge if/when i come to it,
many thank for taking the time, much appreciated :)

I could not find anything conclusive on it ... you would think it would have at least low-med-high? but the temp setting may set the fan speed ? like at idle it runs 1800rpm@32c and you set the temp to 45c and when the cpu hits that it revs the fan up??? looks like your hooking it up and hope for the best on that
sorry I could not be more help on this
