Weirdest computer problems

Hi, again. Today, I want to help a TON of you by starting a thread on some of the weirdest computer problems you have ever had. Other people can help on this thread too! Any problem, any system, any OS, any hardware, just simply any problem! I hope this is a successful thread as well. Post here and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

The weirdest problem I have encountered on my desktop is that it will NOT start if the ambient temp is below 55 degrees F (in an unheated room in winter). If I open the side panel and direct a space heater at the inside for 1 minute, it will startup and run fine. 55 degs F seems to be the magic ambient temp.

The motherboard manufacturer could not come up with a solution; neither did anyone here at Tom's myself included. Other than this the computer is running great since it was built 18 months ago.

Okay. The weirdest computer issue I had (which happened today) was out of nowhere, I heard sparking coming from my Ubuntu box and it rebooted. It did this forever until I shut down the computer. Now the computer bootloops until I shut the computer down.

I hear sparking. In fact, the problem has worsened. Now the motherboard is damaged and the computer shuts down randomly. I think the BIOS chips are damaged. Yesterday, it sparked, the computer rebooted, and got a CMOS checksum error message. Selected Last Known Good, restarted fine, booted Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, now the farthest the computer has ever gotten is to start booting Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I will need a new Gigabyte G41MT-S2PT motherboard to swap in and once that is done, I do not expect this to happen again. The computer was put together at Laptops for Less (never going there again). They must have put in a 2-4 year old motherboard that they knew that was going to go out soon. It appears that today was the day that the motherboard decided to go out. Hopefully, this does not happen again.
