Hi,

I'm at a loss as to what to upgrade my motherboard with, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for a direct drop in replacement for my (ancient) M2N SLI motherboard that will work with my current Phenom X4 9850 processor but allow me to use a SSD cache I have (crucial adrenaline which was previously unsupported) and hopefully provide USB3.0 support but can find nothing I can make head or tail of on the internet!

Thanks for any suggestions

Oh my :) asus m2n-Sl " Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time" .... bit of a legendary board that. I miss mine something Chronic ... it ran my phenom II 945 X4 until it gave out 5 years later , i swapped it for the Asus AM3+ platform that i'm using now .

But you have a bit of an issue Your Cpu is of the first generation phenoms and support of those doesnt extend quite as far .... i did a bit of a search around and the last chip-set you can use is AMD 760G SO .... native USB 3 support isn't available on the chip-set .

the best solution i can find for you still using this old chip-set is ... this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157469

You could then add one of these cards to add usb 3...

However ... if i were you I would consider this a good time to do a full tech refresh for not much more you could get a current generation AMD chip , and board , possibly re-use you drives and ram
