Slow shut down and boot

Past 24 hours my computer is taking forever to log off when I shut it down. It can literally be on the 'logging off' screen for over an hour. To boot up is taking much longer then usual too. At least 5 mins from power on to desktop screen.

This is very unusual for my computer as it tends to run rather fast. I have no issues once it is fully booted and it runs perfectly until I try to shut down again.

Any ideas what to do?

Intel i3 2100 3.10ghz
Geforce GTX 650
8GB Momory
250GB boot HDD
1TB HDD
Windows 7 Pro

double check with malwarebytes to make sure no other virus got passed your scanner. if that managed to get past your system other viruses could have just as easily

Found my problem. There was a virus that got past my scanner some how. File name is Performancer.dll. Only when I tried to delete it did AVG find it. Must have affected the boot drive because AVG needed to restart my computer to fix the issue. Restart went fine. Thanks for the replies.

Yeah this is finding files that AVG did not. Will wait for scan to finish to check results.
