I think I am all done on picking out the parts for my first build but I just wanted to run everything over with someone here to make sure I did a good job and didn't miss things up to bad. My budget for the build is $1500 and I wanted it to be a gaming/school work build. For the gaming I want it to do 1080p gaming on either ultra or high setting (depending on the game). For the school I will be using VMware Workstation and Adobe CS5 ( the school is talking about upgrading to CS6). For the CS5 the only things I use are Photoshop, Dream weaver, illustrator, Premiere pro, and After effects (Mainly Photoshop, Dream weaver, and illustrator as its a rare occasion we use premiere pro and after effects which is why I didn't go for an i7 and will be overclocking the 4670k to either 4.2 or 4.5 Mhz). So mainly I just wanted to know if I should change things out or go ahead with the order.

I had a z97 in mind but as I looked around I couldn't find an microATX boards that were sli/crossfire capable because in the near future when I get more money I was planning on running sli or crossfire (depending on whichever card I went with). If they do have z97 mobo's that are capable of that then please do show me and I will gladly look into it.

running crossfire in a case that small is going to create alot of heat issues i'd imagine... but i've never actually done it in a mini case.

anyway, if you're going to use VMware, definitely go up to 16gb of ram. you'll be glad you did.

also, There's decent 240gb SSDs around for $110 after rebate. that's a worthy investment.... putting VMs on an SSD partition is night and day difference when trying to actually use them.
the 4770k upgrade makes sense as well here.

i guess it depends on how many VMs, and what sort of usage you plan on doing with them.

For the price of those mobo's it almost dosent seem worth it to me to make the switch to z97. I mean ive never had an ssd before so the old data rates will be fine with me.

Well the plan was to eventually upgrade into crossfire and eventually upgrade into 16gb of ram. None of the work that I do is completely major in any way. A lot of it is just introduction so far so the most VMs Ive had open is so far is 2 and just for server virtualization and different OS purposes. Since this is all begging I figured I could get begging hardware then as my class work grows so will my pc components

I wasn't trying to offend (sorry if I did) just trying to find the best set up for myself is all and trying to save some money and space since I am in college and money can get tight at times just as the space can get tight at times

ok thank you and I think I will take the heat issue into consideration and look into a new motherboard that doesn't have sli or crossfire and I will just run 1 GPU and upgrade about ever 4 years or so. Although I do like the mainly black on the motherboard I already picked out. Do you have any suggestions for a different microATX mobo?
