Hello, I'm just after a bit of advice regarding my recent Overclocking attempts if possible please.

Some of my specs are as below:
* Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 Mobo.
* Corsair 750 watt PSU.
* 8gb XMS3 DDR3 Ram at 1600mhz and 1.65v.
* AMD FX-6300 OC'd at 4.3ghz, with 2200 nb and 2000 ht, 1.41v Vcore and LLC on High. All power saving options are off (Core 6, Cool and Quiet etc).

I've been testing the OC using Prime95 and monitoring the Core temps using HWmonitor.

The CPU Core Temp usually languishes around the 55-57 degrees area when under load, with there being some brief instances when it goes up to 60 and then back down again. Socket temp never goes over 66 degrees.

I have managed to get Prime95 working for about an hour, before the PC Reboots. It reported no errors coming from any of the Cores.

I believe that this is an indicator that my OC is unstable. Does it sound like I need to bump the Vcore up a little bit and repeat the Prime95 test? Or could there be other issues at play to consider? Also, if I do bump up the Vcore a little, in what size incriments is best to stick to when upping the Vcore?

Many thanks, Billy.

Your temps are perfect, you don't need to worry about another cooler. If it never breaks 60 in Prime then you're golden. You could try bumping the CPU voltage just a tad to see if that helps in Prime, but honestly if regular use isn't crashing your system then I'd say you're stable enough and not to worry about it.

Hi S4in7,

No it seems perfectly fine when playing games or running any other applications. For instance, I was playing the new Wolfenstein: New Order the other day for a few hourds with no issues, and this was on the highest settings. I occassionally checked my temps, and they were lower than a Prime95 test.

The ideal overclocking mobo is one with an 8+2 phase power design, yours is 6+2. While that may not represent a problem in of itself, it can represent voltage issues.

Every unlocked CPU should be able to overclock up to 10% without bumping up the volts, try it with default voltage.

Thing is, I already have a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo on it, as well as a new Corsair 14 cm front fan placed on my case, so I thought that it would have been adequate for a bit of Overclocking.

That having been said, it's quite warm where I live lately and my flat can get hot. I have tried to open the windows up and get some cool air in.

Maybe my case isn't than efficient at cooling either!

I might try a little bit more voltage just to see how that goes, whilst keeping a firm eye on temperatures.

Hi, good day to you both!

Just an update: I ran a Memtest for over an hour the other day to see if the issue was related to my Memory, but that showed up no errors thankfully.

I upped my Vcore slightly earlier on today and upped my LLC to the next step up (Very High) to counter any drops in voltage. I ran a 1 hour Prime95 test and the voltage stayed consistent, the temps also stayed roughly the sameish (55-58 degrees). I had to stop the test manually unfortunately, as I had to get ready for work.

I'm on break in work currently, so I might be able to run a longer test later on (perhaps for a few hours) and see how that goes.
