I've been thinking about buying a H100 but I don't have enough space on the inside of my case to install it so i was wondering if I could install the radiator on the outside of the case and feed the cables through the rubber gromets located at the back of my case. or is this a really bad idea?

Solution
Maybe just wait to use the H100 until you get the Zalman? If anything gets into the exposed fans they could be damaged (let alone whatever falls into them ;) )
Does it have top mount fan position? Or are you thinking of installing the cooler on the removable side panel?

If you were thinking of installing on the side I strongly recommend against it.

Technically you could if the hoses are long enough (they aren't very long since they are normally for mounting inside)
You would have to deal with exposed fans (can't mount the fans to the case and then the rad to the fans)

What case are you using?

If it makes any difference, just wait. The smaller coolers (from Corsair) don't give any performance over decent air coolers
and have been noted to have fan issues.

Just some info I came across while researching buying the H100i I got a few months back.
