Hi there, wasn't sure where to put this so hope its OK.

I've had my sound card for a while now actually, but Skype actually does a reasonable amount in blocking this sound so while its there its not as noticeable.

However when I tried to record on other software (any, the result was the same) the background noise was astronomical, it did not matter where my mic was placed, just a lot of noise in which i quickly realised i cannot record like this.
There is one thing that actually, completely eliminates the noise and that's when I turned off mic boost, however the sound was extremely low then and I'd have to borderline shout for it to be acceptable. Going into the audio center and simply monitoring the mic will give me the same result with the same sound.

Did a little recording here, just simply holding the mic for 10 seconds: https://soundcloud.com/kreater-1/sound

Maybe I am not aware of something I don't know how to reduce / get rid of this, that sound is with the new modmic 4.0 by the way, known for its noise reduction! (not saying its the mic, it does this with my other mics also)

PC specs:
850w TX Corsair
i7 3770k @ 4.4ghz
GTX 770 SLI
Xonar Essence STX
P8Z77-V PRO
16gb ram
1tb hdd / 128gb ssd

Any possible solutions appreciated, or maybe someone has/had similar issues in the past.

Thanks!

Edit: Your sound card is fine, the noise that you recorded in the clip isn't electronic noise (like you you usually get with on-bard audio).

For recording (not real time i.e. voip, team-speak, vent, Skype):

What software are you trying to record on? Audacity had noise reducers that you can use to reduce sounds like that. Your best bet is to use Audacity to get rid of the noise or record without microphone boost and manually turn up the volume on your sound file.

However if you are trying to record high quality audio for professional or hobby use (i.e. vocal/musical instruments), the modmic isn't anything special and i doubt you will find the quality you are looking for. for high quality audio recording with a reasonable budget I...

Don't seem to be getting any answers, so maybe I can get help with this instead.

Trying to use my mic on my onboard and not sound card (while leaving my actual sound on my xonar) is this even possible? for some reason when I plug mic in elsewhere it recognises it however no sound output

For realtime solutions (i.e. voip/vent):
Not possible due to how noise cancellation works, you can try filters or get a better mic with gain levels on the mic (mic boost is pretty bad).
