Thinking of changing around my build a bit

Hey all,

My build is as follows:

Case: Thermaltake Armor+
Cpu: Phenom II X4 965 BE with mil OC to 3.6Ghz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD7 v2 XL-ATX
GPU: XFX HD5870 2GB Edition
PSU: Antec TruePower Quattro 1000W
Cooler: Thermaltake Frio
Ram: G Skill F3-1600C9-8GXM 8 GB DDR3set to 9-9-9-24 @ 666 MHz x2
Monitor: Benq 24"

Lately I have been thinking of upgrading my build as its about 3 1/2 years old now, but i have been looking at benchmarks and rumors and it doesn't look like AMD is going to release any new cpu's till 2015-2016 so i was wondering if i should take advantage on the new devils canyon cpus that are coming and change over to Intell or just change over the board and wait and see what happens with broadwell and AMD in the next year or so.

Atm I'm gaming at 1920x1080 but as soon as i work out how I'm going to fit my 2nd monitor on my desk I'm going to bump that up to 1440, by then I'm hoping the new Nvdia 800 series will be up, as atm my 5870 is going strong and i can play pretty much everything on high or medium perfectly.

For 990fx motherboards any recommendations for ATX? I am guessing some of the Asus boards would prob stand out there.

As for case I'm pretty set on the new Enthoo Pro that comes out later this month but I'm liable to change my mind again as I watch Youtube reviews >.>

Also been wanting to change my cooler and been wanting to go to water I see most people recommend the Corsair H100i and H105 ? Do you think those would help me OC my cpu to 4.0+Ghz?

If i did go the Intell route how much upgrade to performance in gaming and day to day activities would i be getting?

Thanks for anyone who has slogged through all that.

I'd recommend an i5 4670k and a z97 board by ASUS. MSI, Asrock(ASUS's cheaper brand) and Gigabyte are good too, but i personally have never been let down by ASUS.

As for devil's...

Thx I'll check out the board. Out of curiosity what is your cpu and how cool does it run?

Just switch over to haswell. Devil's canyon isn't going to bring anything new to the table. So why wait for it?

I thought Devil's Canyon is supposed to be a little more powerful and easier to OC for the same price? Either way what cpu and Motherboard would you recommend for an intell build, for a price to performance ratio?

As for devil's canyon, I believe I save that the i5 that is replacing the 4670k is .1 GHz faster. This stock gain will be unnoticeable. As far as easier to overclock, from reading Tom's article on it, I don't see any mention of any new building technique or materials change that would make it overclock easier. And i'm sure that if it is, it is barely easier. Go with haswell and then you can upgrade the next time there is a revolution in CPUs as opposed to a small evolution.
