Hey guys, I just built this new tower and I've had trouble almost every step of the way. Anyways now I'm having problems with the screen wanting to constantly flicker, I've read everything I could from maybe a loose wire to it not being seated and maybe the drivers and I've tried everything but the drivers. I have the latest catalyst and I checked for driver updates and it said it was up to date, now it started when I was downloading my motherboard drivers and utilities. Since then I got catalyst and checked for updates and still nothing has worked, it only does it when I start up windows though it doesn't do it in the bios. I've tried everything and I don't know what else to do, I'm just ready to start using it after everything and this one simple thing is stopping me. Someone has to know how to fix this so please anyone have any ideas, I just want to fix this and get gaming please help!!!

Solution
R9 280X has known issues that artifacts or flickering can happen due to the clock speed they are clocked at. Some cards may not be actually stable.

No I haven't had the chance to, I've been trying to get all the drivers downloaded. I haven't downloaded anything but Firefox which was after all this started. Not sure if it's anything but I also can't update my adobe flash player or java

The 760k is not a good cpu match for R9 280X or GTX 770. THe AMD FX 6300 or 8320 is a better match. For intel any i5 from the 3rd or 4th gen will do. The 760k is not allowing your gpu to reach its max potential performance.
The R9 280X is on the same level as the GTX 770. But the R9 280X has 3GB Vram whilst the 770 has 2GB so the R9 280X may last a bit longer.

Oh well I didn't know that, what graphics cards would be best for that cpu? The reason I got it was because of it being the next series from amd so I could upgrade it later on, and so I had pci-e 3. But yeah I guess I'll just send it back and get a replacement unless I can find one that better suits me for the same price or under?

To be fair the FM2 socket you are using is limited in term so cpu performance. You would need to change the cpu and motherboard to gain more.
So the AMD route is getting a FX 6300 and a ASUS m5A97 R2.0 motherboard or
The Intel route which is the i3, or i5 4th gen cpu with a H887 or H87 motherboard if you are getting a non-k cpu.

So the long term of this motherboard isn't any good then? I kinda figured it wasn't the best cpu, but I figured since the FM2 was the next line up of amd I would atleast have some chance of getting a better one later on.

So my best option is to just return my motherboard and my cpu and Gpu? Get an fx motherboard with a 6300 and the same Gpu but fixed, I bought next day shipping to have all of it here so I didn't have to wait just to find out it wasn't even worth it that's depressing
