I just started up my new computer and I'm setting everything up. I have an Asus z87-a and it has 3 XMP options, disabled, profile 1, and profile 2. I was under the impression that XMP was just on or off. How do I set this up to take advantage of my 2400 CL10 Tridents?

Hello

Normally the TridentX memory will have slightly tighter secondary timings for profile #2 compared to profile #1. Usually no noticeable performance improvement in day-to-day use.

The timings and everything are the same, the only difference I see is that profile #1 says 2399 and profile #2 says 2401 so I'm assuming its refering to the 2400Mhz they are supposed to be but idk why each profile only differs by 1Mhz

There are additional differences between Profile 1 (stock profile for the sticks) and Profile 2 which is considered the Enthusiasts Profile, slightly tighter in the advanced timings and often may squeeze in the CR to 1T instead of the norm of 2T

Hello

The changes will be in the second and third set of timings. Also as Tradesman1 wrote some profiles will have command Rate as 1T although most boards will still set 2T for high frequency ram. If so this will need to be changed bu the user assuming the system will run at 1T.
