So guys, I'm going to build a computer, and I will be gaming and video editing for my friends future Youtube channel. I would like it if you guys could pls help me choose a card, GTX 770, or R9 290.
Keep in mind this is all off of newegg.

Here's the rest of my build in case you need it

If you have advice for the rest of my build, go ahead, I'm open to suggestions, keep in mind my price range is up to $1,645.

The 290 wins in terms of performance. Not sure about compatibility with video editing software either way you'll have to check.

In terms of raw power the 290 wins by a fair bit, its closer to a 780. However, it also consumes a fair bit more power, gives off more heat, and has worse drivers (in my opinion, have had tons of trouble with Radeon drivers but none with Nvidia).

For the 12gb kit, you could get a 16gb kit which would help in video editing.

The CD/DVD drive only needs to provide functionality for reading. Just take the cheapest one and you'll be fine.

You don't need a 100$ PSU, Just a quality one that can give you headroom and enough power for your parts would suffice. The xfx does this.

The SSD is just for boot speeds, the kingston would do fine.

The r9 290 would be stronger for gaming than the GTX 770. There might be some benefits for recording because of shadowplay for the GTX770, but other than that your CPU process everything still.

Getting the non-OEM version of windows is just a safety thing, in case anything happens to your drive at least you can still reinstall windows without a huge headache.

Looks like a great built.
I would swap the 4770k for a 4790k, and take an air cooler for cheaper than H100i : Noctua NH-U12 S for example.
That would be the same overall price, slightly higher performance (ok this is a guess, nothing else...), but definitely less hassle and noise....

It will depends on the programs you use. Some programs have support for CUDA gpu acceleration whilst most have openCL.
CUDA is Nvidia's Way of accelerating editing.
AMD excels at OpenCl programs more than Nvidia gpus .
Ideally you should focus more on your cpu and ram first for editing.

Here's the thing using newegg only, Somethings had to change cause of pricing and what availability. I'm not sure why not go with other retailers. But your call.
