Hello,
I AM able to delete files and folders from the Microsoft Windows Explorer. However, the icons stay on my desktop screen and I am NOT able to delete them from there. I try to delete them from there, and it won't work. We all have Windows 7 here at the office and others are able to delete right from their desktop screen.

Can anyone help? Thank you!
Laurel

Start > Run and type netplwiz and check to see if the user is added with any special Domain/Local/Group. Do a gpupdate /force reboot and try again. Or as Onus said, re-create user profile may fix the problem.

The actual desktop that has the background picture and the pictures of the little icons doesn't have a fresh button. But, when I delete from Windows Explorer and refresh, and then go over to the actual desktop with the background picture, the icons for those folders and files that I've just deleted are still living there. I drag them to the garbage can and the pop back out.

We all have the computers and we can all delete from our actual desktop (with the picture icons on it.) She's the only one who cannot do it.

If it helps, she was able to do it with Windows XP all the time. Now, with Windows 7, she cannot do it, but we all can. We all got upgraded to Windows 7 at the same time.
