all i play is world of warcraft

So i just got a new graphics card i picked up the powercolor r9 270x OC edition and i am getting some really jumpy fps i have the game set to ultra with with 4x multisampling on 1920x1080 resolution the game runs pretty decent stay at 60 fps most of the time unless im in the shrine then it drops to 35-40 when i turn the camera it drops pretty low also and in raids anywhere from 29-60 fps ordos on the other hand is about 19-30 fps

i was also watching the cpu to make sure neither core was getting maxed out and they both where not

i feel like my fps should be a little higher then it is my good friend plays the game with an i7 2600k and a gtx 560ti we both ran fraps and we did a raid and flew around together to check the fps on both systems her fps was always about 10 more then my system she plays on ultra and i have to play on ultra with shadows on high and hers is still higher the r9 270x should be at least 30% faster then the gtx 560ti i am using the i3 4130 compared to her i7 2600k but even still that i7 is only 3% faster in single-threaded applications then mine is so it shouldn't make that much of a difference since when i play i don't run any other type of programs anyways i have tried the new drivers for the card and i am on the new beta driver at the moment witch didn't make any difference i have ran the game with no addons also

any advice?

I7 Core is much better than I3. I7 Have capablity To support it cores in game which increases its performance in gaming . I7 1 Core is reserved for gaming rendering nd physx thats why I7 Can play game with Intel hd4000 So as with gtx 560 Ti it rocks

That's an overall % of its usage. I need to know its core speed in mhz while gaming.

Reference 270x's have a Core Speed of 1000mhz,but they have a software technology called PowerPlay which reduces your core and memory speed when its not in use(idle desktop/web browsing).
The trouble comes when the software never gives you your full core clock, im assuming yours is much lower than 1000mhz while gaming and creating this "lag".

Well it is fluctuating instead of giving you the flat out 1000mhz,even if slightly.

Familiar with MSI Afterburner?

We could still disable PowerPlay with MSI AB and see if the "Lag" is gone. Only down side is; Your card wont clock as low on the desktop(2d mode). instead of ultra low clocks(150/300 core/mem) your 2D clocks will be half of your rated clocks,500/700 for you.

i think it was fluctuating because i was flying around heavy areas then staring straight up in the sky to watch the fps i never heard of powerplay tho

And you wont hear of it unless you read the product page on AMDs site, which has it renamed to PowerTune(but ill still use PowerPlay since MSI AB does).
Anyway, download MSI AB that i linked in the other reply.

Disclaimer: do not use numeric values shown in screenshots, tailor your clocks for your card.

Use the sliders to set your stock clocks, which is a slightly overclocked 1080 core, apparently and 1400 memory, click apply(this enables the clocks) then select save then click Profile 1.
Next drop the core and memory sliders to the minimum value, apply then save to profile 2.
Then go into "Settings" and find the "Profiles" Tab in the top right and save your 2d and 3d clocks to the appropriate profiles, like so.

then bypass PowerPlay,if you dont, powerplay conflicts.

Leave msi running and test a game, see if its better.
