I dropped my Win 7 64bit HP Spectre XT from 4th floor balcony (by accident), laptop was trashed. I removed SSD and purchased a mSATA usb enclosure and connected it to an 64bit HP dm4 Win 7 to try and access data. Disk manager recognizes but states "NO MEDIA". In My Computer SSD does not appear. Volumes are listed as MBR but with 0 capacity, in device manager volumes are all blank.

How can I access this drive to get my data, I also tried connecting to a 64bit Win 8.1 but same results

Showing no media is not a good sign at all. It may have been damaged as well. Surface mount parts while still rather strong(though hole is still stronger, but takes more space) have limits.

No media sounds like you are just seeing the USB controller.

It may be worth seeing if a friend or even shop has a system with mSATA to test it on just in case the USB -> mSATA device is the issue.

That was my first thought when I saw "No Media" but just wanted to make sure. I will see if I can have it checked on a system with direct mSATA connection. Thanks for the answers!!!!
