Intel Core2Quad (LGA775), and 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz... What MoBo??

Okay, so I bought a tower off craigslist that had a fried motherboard. He was running:

Intel core 2 quad Q9300,
ATI Radeon 4880 1GB DDR5,
Intel DP45SG Extreme Series (*FRIED*),
and
Crucial Ballistix 2x2GB DDR3 1600:

Now, here's my problem... The RAM runs at 1.65V & 1600MHz, and the only (cheap) board I can find only takes 1.5V & 1333(o.c.):

I'm guessing his MoBo fried because he was running a similar setup, but maybe didn't alter any of the setting in his BIOS. But then again, I don't really know.

I'm wondering if you guys think buying that LGA775 motherboard will work with the existing CPU and RAM. It doesn't have to be crazy fast or anything (it'll used as a server eventually, but maybe some CS:GO or SC2 in the meantime)

Thanks in advance... There's a lot of info out there, and I'm not really confident enough yet to just place an order!

If the motherboard in question only lists 1333Mhz as OC, then chances are that it does not support that memory speed, or 1333Mhz FSB NATIVELY, but that doesn't mean you won't be able to get it to work. That CPU uses FSB 1333, so memory running at any higher of a speed than that is not going to give you much, if any feasible gain in performance. Or, you can shop around for something like the ASRock P45TS (http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/P45ts/). It supports DDR2 -OR- DDR3 (not simultaneously of course), and should have all the OC room you'd like.

But can I run the 1600mhz RAM at 1333mhz on the MoBo if the MoBo is only rated to 1333(o.c.)?

Considering that it 1333mhz is rated as OC, and there is no indication that anything above that is supported then maybe not. One way to run RAM above that limit is to increase FSB though. Now, there is a limit in RAM:FSB ratio. If you set your mobo to that limit, and increase FSB, RAM technically will run above 1333mhz. All depends how much FSB increase the mobo can take. There is no guarantees that you will be able to do so. There may not be even an option to increase FSB beyond certain limits.
