Okay, so I've done some research, probably not as enthusiastically as I should, into the correct, easiest and fastest way to do this... But, I haven't found the answer that I want to read... So, I figured I'd post here and see if there is an 'in the know' kinda person...

I've recently installed a 2nd hard drive on my computer and I've elected to install Windows 8.1 (because my school gives it for free) onto it. My current hard drive has Windows 7 Ultimate.

I've already run the compatibility wizard thingy and installed all of the items that would not transfer doing a typical "upgrade", so now, what I'd like to do is take everything off of my Windows 7 (internal) hard drive and put it onto my Windows 8 (internal) hard drive.

I presently have both drives installed with a dual boot system in place. I actually have 4 drives installed, but these two drives are the only ones I am concerned with at the moment.

Is there a way to move all of my files (games, photos, user preferences for 4 different users, documents, etc) besides the drag n drop method... I have things that won't work with drag n drop, per say, like World Of Warcraft, Mumble, Ventrillo, email programs, adobe programs etc...

I checked out WET (WinEasyTranx) and I didn't see the option to use an existing drive... and I don't want to corrupt a perfectly good new operating system - Windows will find a way to do that all by itself in soon enough time, why rush it? lol

Ideas?

The programs you need to re-install (except WOW, you just need to copy the program folder from Program Files to the Windows 8 drive and just create a shortcut to the wow.exe file, saves a LOT of downloading updates). Just about everything else you can use Windows Easy Transfer. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/transfer-data-from-old-computer-to-windows-8/

Well, SNAP! ... So simple and so easy... I have NO IDEA why I didn't think of that, it's like the ultimate shortcut and would have saved me several hours of "waiting"... I elected to utilize MS's WET and see how it goes, worst case scenario I can always format my Win8 disk and start from scratch, lol... But, had I seen this post first, I SO would have done this... and I'm dumbfounded as to why I didn't even conjure this type of an idea in my head... I have a music and pictures drive in place and I thought about copying everything to it... so... yeah, no idea why I didn't think of it...

Thanx man, totally appreciate the idea - hopefully this thread will help someone along the way.
