I recently bought a I7 4770K for my new gaming pc and i haven't unpacked it yet, but I heared today that the new I7 4790K is coming out which is clocked 0.5 Ghz higher. So I want to know if it is worth it to upgrade and try to bring my 4770K back or stay with the 4770K and buy a even better CPU over a couple of years. I have build my pc for the future with 16 Gb of corsair vengeance and a R9 290 vapor x from sapphire.
So is it worth the wait 3 weeks before I may have the new CPU an I can't game till then or just stick with the 4770K and buy a other CPU in a couple of years.

Hi,
I would suggest you to stay with your i7 4770k, it is still and it will be a beast in the upcoming period of 1-2 years or maybe more. I am still rocking...

from what ive seen in early results, it isnt worth it. infact i might prefer the 4770k from what i have seen. however, it is too soon to say decisively.

need to see more overclocking results. the handful i have seen arent good though. the temps ive seen arent good and im still trying to figure out if the 4790k actually has less l2 cache. which was claimed in another thread on this site.

I am still rocking with i7 2600 and i don't consider any upgrade soon, until Intel or AMD come with something new and exciting and not just bumping the Mhz of their previous generation as they have done with the Ivy Bridge, Haswell, Haswell Refresh/Devil's Canyon or FX 9000 series

For games like watchdogs there is already recommended to have a 3.5 Ghz CPU and if I understand it well is a CPU that is clocked 0.5Ghz higher not really that much better.
