This is a very quick question, I currently have an i5 3470, I was wondering if it would be worth selling it and getting a 3570K or just saving up for a 3770K instead. My graphics card is a GTX 770, I have a Corsair RM550 and I have a Z77 motherboard.

Solution
For gaming, upgrading from i5 3470 to i7 3770k is not worth it since current-gen games don't make much use of Hyperthreading on i7, on dual-cores i.e. i3 HT is beneficial.

But for editing purpose i7 3770k can be much helpful.

You can get i5 3570k and overclock it for 8-10% more performance than i5 3470, since you already have Z77 motherboard for overclocking.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother, i5 3470 is still a powerful chip and wouldn't bottleneck any single-GPU graphics card out there. Games tend to be more GPU bound, so upgrading your graphics card to something more powerful or SLI GTX 770 which will provide you with biggest performance boost.

Go for the 3770 is a better processor for computing, but for gaming, it will not make a difference. Better off saving the extra money. On that light, you could OC the 3570k via the unlocked multiplier much easier than what you currently have. You could bring the 3570 up to par with the 3770k. Up to you on how much you want to spend.

Either would be a little boost for gaming. Minimal though. games are all about GPU power. All modern CPUS (and fx6000-8000) and i5-i7x) will perform similar with your GPU.
