You could look for open box and refurbished things like an AMD 260x or an NVidia 650 ti. There aren't too many cheaper options that are good for gaming since they get quite a bit slower and are more designed for low power or just home theater style machines once you get below a certain price.

For £60, you're not going to get a decent graphics card, one that is probably even worse than the on-board graphics you're using. However, with a little bit more saving up, I HIGHLY recommend the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 or the AMD R7 260X, available for around 120-150 US dollars. These cards both handle 1080p on most modern games with extremely playable FPS, medium settings. In fact, I use one myself and I absolutely love it. It has to be the most bang for your buck, low-mid range card. Anyway, hope this solves your question.

no. The R7 250 is far better then his onboard graphics (costs under £60), and by looking at the rest of his specs, I wouldn't see the need in investing a lot.

But the R5 250 is really slow. It would be a better choice to look for a used 5770/6770 or a 7770 and get the price down. I know in Canada we have a store called NCIX (which is in the states too) who sell all their open boxed goods on ebay. They have a 260x for under 110CAD which is just about 60 GBP.

Any of there choices would be far better than the 250.

77770 doesn't exceed the R7 250 by a huge amount, especially the GDDR5 version (practically the same when the 250 is GDDR5). The R7 250 is great value for the price, of course there is better, but for brand new, a solid choice.

In fact all those cards listed would't be classified as a "far better" then the 250.

The 7770 is pretty much the 250x, which is about 35% faster than the 250. The 250 is slightly slower than a 5770 essentially teh same. Pretty sure you can buy a used 5770 for 40 bucks here, so probably 30GBP.

your looking at the DDR3 version. With GDDR5 memory, the 250X does edge it but not by 35%.

I still think the best option is finding a used/open box/refurbished 7770 or something similar to that.
