I am using windows 8 & Wi-Fi connection. The ip address is not available, but connection exists. If I do a system restore, it stays for some time and again the problem is back.
I am sorry, i was asked to add more details, i hope this is the required one :-S
My laptop is a HP Envy i5 with Windows 8. The adapter is 'Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter' and the connection type is wireless.
The internet connection information and the signal strength is present. I mean the system says it is there and when the problem occurs, the internet ip address is 'unavailable' and the ip service provider becomes blank.
If i do a system restore or reset, the problem disappears for sometime. then again the ipaddress and the service provider information disappears.

In the same wireless, other than my laptop, my mobile is also connected and it works just fine. and there are laptops of atleast 5 or 6 more people and it is ok. I have had this laptop for 1.5yrs and it was working fine until 3months back. there were some updates that caused this error. so i reset to factory settings and still the problem persists.

I would recommend you to back up all your files and do a completely fresh install.
I too had a similar sort of problem with my wireless adapter and a fresh install of OS resolved it.
But before doing a fresh install, you may consider updating your wireless drivers or download the ORIGINAL drivers from HP website.
