I have a hd 7870ghz 2gb and would like to crossfire it. I'v heard that with AMD chipset you can crossfire any two radeon cards as long as the first two numbers are the same. example 7870 with a 7850. I need to know if that is realy true, i want to know since 7870's are soo expensive.

it is true, yes. the 7870 will crossfire with 7850, but the 7870GHz will be limited to 7850's performance when in Crossfire. Make sure you overclock the 7850 to a rough 7870's level to get best performance, if that is far cheaper, it will be your best alternative.
