hi is it fine using this psu: COOLERMASTER SILENT PRO M II 720W 80PLUS BRONZE W/135MM FAN for http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1227&pid=2150&psn=&lid=1&leg=0#

Solution
easily enough, that PSU can handle that card just fine, go for it!

A good quality 600W PSU can run that card, and you appear to have a good quality Cooler Master PSU with the required amps on the 12V rail. In other words, you meet the requirements to run the card and are good to go.

Yeah Sapphire will say Min 750W as there are a LOT of inefficient PSUs out on the market, as long as you have a good, efficient 80+ rated PSU you would be fine with a 600W let alone 750W. Good choice of card btw, have fun with it! :)

The requirement will always be over, there way to make absolutely sure you have the watt headroom, which 600W also has.

Hello,

I just wanted to know whether my PSU will be able to run sapphire Tri-X R9 290

It's a Cooler Master M600 W (40amps on the 12v Line.)

Hi Hnoor,

that unit should be fine. JohnnyGURU gave it a 9 rating with 9 for performance and 10 for functionality. 600W should be enough to run an r9 290

Hi guys!

Well I actually went out and built my first new pc with a Tri-x R9 290 with a evga 600w PSU by accident and... it doesn't run. The pc is extremely unstable and it keeps giving me the BSOD a few minutes after boot.

I conclude that with my personal experiments that the Tri-x R9 290 does not run on a 600w power supply.

Hoping today to buy a 750w one.

Bye!

I dunno mate. I am getting the blue screen way too often. I have tested the ram and it seems fine. Harddrive also is fine.

I have tested everything but I still havent tested out the pc with a 750w. So until then I can't really say anything.

Funny thing is that I did a Cinebench and it didn't restart. Only when I opened a steam game it quit while in menu.

If you have any solutions I would be in ur debt.

Thanks CGUrrell!

Could possibly be a driver issue? Make sure your drivers are up to date.

go to http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/product_index.aspx?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1227&pid=2091&lid=1# select your OS in the drop down menu (you probably want the 64-bit version but you can check for certain if you go to my computer (This PC on Windows 8/8.1), right click in white space and click properties), then download the latest Catalyst Software Suite driver

Have you tried the new PSU yet? I have the same card and probably the same PSU. Mine keeps cutting out to a black screen then rebooting. Curious to see if the higher wattage fixed your issue.
