Wireless Routers not Working

I have been having issues with wireless routers at my home. About a week ago, my old router (linksys wrt54g) stopped working. The only way that I could access the internet was to unplug the Ethernet cable going into the router and plug it directly from the modem to my pc (no devices could connect to the internet wirelessly, and the wired connection from the router to the pc was not working either).

I switched to a newer router (a Netgear N300 WNR2000) and everything started working again... until this morning that is. Now the exact same problems are happening again. Nothing can access the internet through the router (wireless or wired), the only way that I am able to access the internet is to plug an ethernet cable directly from my modem to my pc.

I tried unplugging both the modem and router, nothing helped. I also tried going into the router settings, but haven't had any luck (admittedly I am not really sure of what I am doing). I did notice that in the router settings the ip address, dns server and ip subnet mask are all set to 0.0.0.0, but I am not sure why. What is causing this problem with the wireless routers that I use at my house and how do I fix it?

edit: This all seems to have started after installing Plex media server on one of my computers (installed on May 26th, problems started on May 28th), but I am not really sure if this could be the problem.

Well I decided to give up, took a shower, and when I got out, the router was working again. I had reset the modem several times, and nothing seemed to change, so I have no clue as to why it is now working again, and why it wasn't working for hours before. I thought it was strange that this not only happened to the new router, but to the one that we have had for years, and that each time I still had internet access but only when I plugged in directly from the modem to the computer, bypassing the router. I will have to call my ISP since I am now assuming the problem might be something on their end.
