Sound problems after changing graphics card

I recently installed a new graphics card (GeForce 8400 GS, not really "new" but new to me) and now my sound lags and skips (almost sounds like needle skipping on a record in a metal cave.) I noticed that the graphics card installed some kind of HD sound drivers for some reason, so I uninstalled them, but the problem persists. The only other thing I did was update my BIOS, I don't know if that would have affected anything. Any help would be appreciated!

I tried uninstalling the drivers but the process isn't finished until I restart my computer, and my computer keeps automatically re-installing the drivers at start up and I can't seem to find a way to disable it or even stop it while it's happening. I also didn't see any custom options for installing sound drivers, there is only a choice between "search automatically" or "browse my computer" but I wouldn't know where to look.

edit: Should I just get rid of the drivers I usually use and use the new ones instead?
