I wanted to get a simple am3+ socket cpu and motherboard, but the community always told me that i should use another chip and i kinda agreed with them but the different sockets and other things about intel chips confused me so i need help on choosing the motherboard and chip
(Try and keep the cost around $1000)

You should go with a AMD FX-6300 and for the motherboard a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3. The FX-6300 is a very good bang for the buck CPU and the motherboard is the best in this price range. In my opinion it is not worth it to go with a intel CPU in this price range and the 6300 is very good for gaming. So as long as you dont do editing or 3D work with this PC you will be just fine. I hope that I helped!

Here you go now you have an i5 CPU which is better for gaming then a FX-8350. Also the motherboard is good quality, but I replaced the RAM to something a bit cheaper if you don't mind.

When you have a R9 290 as graphics card you don't want a FX-6300, you wan't to get a bit more performance so at least a FX-8350 but an i5 is even better for gaming, and it fits in his budget so why not?

I would Choose a FX 8320 Over a 8350
