Xeon 1241 vs. 1270...

I've done some online "window browsing" and found the Xeon E3-1241v3, clock wise its like a 1270 but its still quite cheaper... so what's the difference?

By the way, I will be replacing the stock cooler because its ugly, and you guys recommended me a Zalman cooler, so will Zalman CNPS 80F be enough?

I'm just a day away from placing my order, just some loose ends to tie up and some fine tuning to make! ^^

Coincidentally, I will be pairing it up with ASUS H97 PLUS. It says its supported but tosses out a warning nonetheless. From another post asking about Xeon compatibility with aforementioned mobo, the community assured me that I will only loose ECC and other server related features.

And why would the Zalman not be enough? I will not be overclocking!

I do not like these types of coolers, are perfectly the same as the stock one, if you want a real performance boost in cooling and quietness, you have to bet on a cooling tower. Any model that you like, with 92mm or better still 120mm fan, obviously looks at the measures if they are suitable for the space you have in your case.

Because expecially when using the pipeline AVX 2.0 of the Haswell architecture, your CPU will reaches almost 80~90°C on stock intel heatsink, even more if you don't have a good case and fan configuration (btw this extra heat/voltage can be corrected by lowering the Vcore to a stable one, if possible).
All this with the "normal" Haswell processors, obviously a part of this problem was due to a non optimal TIM etc.
I do not know if the Refresh version has really improved, play it safe and get a tower;)

I would not recommend it.

All i want is a cooler that looks better than the stock Intel one but I don't want it to cost me more than 20€. After all, its just a Xeon, It doesn't overclock!

I will be ordering the stuff today or tomorrow, why are you confusing me like this right now just before the order, you're evil! :ouch:

Sorry, but neither of these are available at my provider. Here is a link to what he has available. While I have everything picked out there, it really makes no sense to be ordering just a CPU cooler somewhere else:

P.S.: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Is about the only one I would be willing to spring for above the allocated funds for cooling, but my vendor doesn't show whether its compatible with Xeons or the 1150 socket...
