*IF* your SIG is your HW specs, then the Mobo http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_R20/specifications/ does NOT have onboard GPU.

So everyone here is wrong so far. Yes you can EASILY use 8GB of RAM on a PC, especially if your running email, listening to ITunes, chatting in your Skype, working on your Word program, and have a dozen websites open ALL at the same time, this can eat up the RAM, never mind about gaming. NO the 100MB everyone is tossing around is confused with the HDD RESERVED memory (ORB>COmputer> Rt Click> Manage> Disk Management you will see the first 100MB of your HDD is set aside) for checking against the used / unused portions of the drive for bad sectors while the HDD is running.

That all said: YES THIS IS A PROBLEM. NO you shouldn't have the RAM drop. The potential issues that can cause this can be simply 'overheating', have you cleaned out your PC every 3 months (turn off, use canned air to 'spray' then use paint brush on the vents, fans, PSU, etc. to clean it off)? It can be the PSU is failing (lower power output causes erroneous errors like your RAM 'lost'). Or it can be the RAM is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Any hardware issue only can be diagnosed with using KNOWN GOOD PARTS to swap out for the 'possibly bad parts', and see if things change. If they change then that part was bad, if not, then that part was working look elsewhere for the issue.
